Cat Art In The Ace Hotel

Cynthia:  Look what I found while researching The Theatre At Ace Hotel. Cat and other animal paintings adorning the guest rooms of Ace Hotel in Portland, Oregon.

Marcy:  That cat above is rad but the “other animals” need to go. Especially this next one of a melting Penelope Kitten.

Cynthia:  That’s called “Dripping Kitty”, Marcy.

Marcy:  Doesn’t surprise me. Penelope Kitten IS a drip.

penelope kitten:  i heard that. i may be a drip but you’re a drag.

Marcy:  You’re a doofus.

penelope kitten:  you’re a drama queen.

Marcy (smugly whipping her tail back and forth):  That’s right. I AM a queen. Queen Marcy.

Cynthia:  Okay. So. I knew Ace Hotels were animal friendly but this is super cool! These are local Portland artists commissioned by Ace to decorate their guest rooms with one of a kind paintings.

Cynthia:  Artist Brent Wick created the works above and I was very excited to see that one of my favorite artists, Amy Ruppel, was a contributor too.

Cynthia:  We’ve got three of her prints hanging on our wall. I love looking at them every day. They’re so sweet and whimsical. They always make me smile. xo Amy Ruppel.

Cynthia:  So which room do you want to stay in when we visit Portland, Marcy?

Marcy:  The Dripping Kitty Room.

Cynthia (surpirsed):  Really? Wait… why?

Marcy:  So I can strategically scratch off the black paint and make it a Marcy Room.

Cynthia:  Great. So I will obviously NOT be going to the Ace Hotel with you.

Marcy:  Whatever. I’m still Queen Kitty.

Marcy, I would be careful of the dripping cat. It looks to me as if she just attacked someone so viciously that the victim's blood is dripping from her claws. She might be lurking in the closet. That hipster couple should get out of there.

i'm not afraid of a dripping attack cat. i'm way more fierce. i'm going to figure out my plan of attack from under the couch. or maybe the closet would be safer i mean cozier.

Yeah, I kinda want to know the story behind dripping kitty…it's a little dark. I can't wait to check out Amy's stuff…it's like Ikea does kitty art (I mean that in a good way) 🙂

Oh yes – Amy's stuff is super cute. I haven't seen her do a cat though – just birds and owls. I couldn't find the story behind the dripping cat but I may have just not looked deep enough. I will let you know if I find out anything more!

I hate picking a favorite. They are all good! And the concept is just so cool! I like the painting behind the couch of Brent Wick's cat. I cannot decide if it is because I just really like it with that cool couch. It is rad. ; )

I love your prints, too. They are fantastic!

Not going to talk about drippy cat. I might have nightmares.

I love that couch too. And how they decorated with the record player and tree stump. Too cool!

Isn't it awesome? Don't you just want to stay in one of those rooms and take cool pictures?!
