Easy Peasy Cat Halloween Makeup

Cynthia:  I am just not a Halloween person. I get sleepy and annoyed if I have to come up with a costume.

Marcy:  Welcome to my world, Cindy.

Cynthia:  Yeah, you’re always sleepy and annoyed. But I’m not. Usually. It’s just that Halloween in Los Angeles is always such a big. competitive. deal.  that I get defeated before I even start. It’s daunting. People go all out with their creations. And no matter where you work, you’re always required to dress up or risk getting labeled … a Party Pooper.

Marcy:  You humans certainly do follow a herd mentality. You must be related to dogs. Or chickens. Why don’t you go as a chicken?

Cynthia:  Usually I throw on an orange shirt, apply green eyeshadow to my eyes and nose, and call myself a pumpkin. Or an orange. Depending on the shade of orange I’m wearing that year.

Marcy:  That’s pathetic, Cindy.

Cynthia:  I know.  So this year I am going as… you.

Marcy:  As a cat?! Well, at least you’ll be on brand and on trend. Even though it’s kind of obvious. And lazy.

Cynthia (excitedly):  I found some great photos and tutorials of easy to apply cat makeup. It’s going to be so simple!  But – it’ll look like I made an effort! Check ’em out.

Cynthia: Here’s a look that’s a tad more complicated but still doable by Julia Graf, aka MissChievous.

Cynthia:  And you have to check out adorable teen, Ms. Ellen Melon’s, cat makeup and costume tutorial. As she says –  after applying the makeup – just add black clothing and some cat ears and you’re done!

Cynthia:  Isn’t this the best idea ever?!

Marcy:  No.

Cynthia:  No?

Marcy:  It’s catist.

Cynthia:  No it’s not.

Marcy:  Yes it is.

Cynthia:  No. It’s not.

Marcy:  Yeah… well… if you’re going to dress as a cat for Halloween, then I’m going as a human.

Cynthia:  Fine.

Marcy:  Fine. All I’ll need is a pair of eyeglasses, some skinny jeans, an iPhone for texting, and a Starbucks coffee. Now that’s a scary Halloween costume.

Ha! Love that Marcy is happy you're "on brand and on trend!" Personally I HATE Halloween. I find it awkward and forced and chose to not participate no matter how it's received by others. I do like your costume idea though if one must partake 🙂

Stick to your guns!! I do envy people who get really into it and wonder what I am missing though. Maybe it is a genetic thing?!

I hear you Cynthia! Every year for halloween I go as a cat…you just put on a black outfit, wear your makeup as normal and stick on a pair of cat ears. My attempts are pathetic! But I love these people's…they've done a great job! (I'm also loving those wide leg trousers to the left…they'd look great on you 🙂 )

I am so glad that I am not the only one who isn't crazy about Halloween. Since so many of us are coming out of the woodwork and admitting this -I have decided that we are NOT pathetic. We are … awesome. How about that?! Btw, I want to see you dressed as a cat!! I bet you look super cute in cat ears!

I WANT that kitty sugar dish from ModCloth! Ugh! I just can't justify paying for shipping for only it, but if I order something else from them… 🙂

Oh I would wait. Paying for shipping is so annoying! Now if say you NEEDED something else to get you over there threshold then who am I to argue. (i say very innocently whilst digging my toe into the floor) Because … you know… everyone NEEDS something from ModCloth, right?

I cannot wait to see your Marcy costume and makeup! I love all of the examples. You are going to have some fun! I used to dress up all of the time. But it has been awhile. It used to be my favorite holiday, but one year I was home alone while my husband was out trick or treating with the kids. I went to the front yard to watch them walk down the street and I heard a noise on my left. I looked over and a man was in my backyard staring over the fence at me. I got my husband and he must have gone over the fence into my neighbor's yard. We all searched for him but we never found him. Since then, I get scared on Halloween!

That is incredibly scary. And creepy. And horrible. Yikes! Stay safe on Halloween and make sure you have some company when handing out the candy!!

i'll come over and guard you, Jenni. i am a great watch cat and have a mean bite.

I never dress up for Halloween but this has inspired me to put on cat makeup.

Since you and Marcy are trading species for the day, she should clean the litter box and you should sleep in the sunny spot.

Now that is the best idea I've heard all week!

I love this. One year I was in the high school musical… and it was Cats. Lots of good memories of cat makeup and cat costumes…

Oh how fun! You have to post pics on your blog!!

I have to say that if you wear an orange shirt and green eye shadow, that is still a nice effort. Some of these pictures show easy cat makeup applications so you should have fun drawing some whiskers and a nose. My daughter wants to be a character she made up, Queen of the Cats. She bought a great black with orange accents cat mask at CVS that only covers the eyes. She has a black maxi skirt and long sleeve black knit top that are her regular clothes. We just need to figure out accessories like an orange belt that we can glue black cat shapes on.
Good luck to all of us,

Oh my gosh that is brilliant! I want to steal it and be Queen of the Cats. that is so perfect! Good luck! I know it will be great!

lol I love Marcy's "human costume" idea. A bit jarring that a cat is perceptive enough to notice our undying obsession with our iPhones. Whoops…

I think the cat costume is quick, clever, and kitschy. I like the first girl's look. So simple and cute. I think the scruffy pigtails help. I like that you're basically wearing the "orange costume" just in black with slightly different markings on your face. Sneaky, sneaky!

Kyle and I have been going back and forth about Halloween. Last year we stayed in and made a Harry Potter themed dinner. It was fun and cute but not very exciting. I wanted to do something out on the town that wouldn't put enormous pressure on us to dress up in costume and party hardy. Last night I found the perfect solution! The Nashville Symphony Orchestra is doing a performance of Queen's greatest hits on Halloween. They're having a party in the lobby with a photo booth and Angry Orchard drinks and giveaways. You're encouraged to dress as your favorite rock star. I figure I'll start with my pink moto jacket and work from there. We're being social and getting out on the town. We get to listen to Queen. And I get to dress up without feeling too costumey. All this without the drunken party-goers and intimidating costume contests? Brilliant!

Hee hee. Ah well – I love my iPhone!

Your Halloween sounds like it is going to be incredible! Now I can't wait to see pics of you in your pink moto jacket. That is brilliant!!!
