Bianca Passarge: Bonkers Or Brilliant?

Marcy:  I may have found a cat lady crazier than you, Cindy.

Cynthia:  Really? I didn’t know you were looking.

Marcy:  Her name is Bianca Passarge.

Cynthia:  Wowza! That’s insane.

Marcy:  I know. Here’s what they say about her.

“Seventeen year old Bianca Passarge of Hamburg dresses up as a cat, complete with furry tail and dances on wine bottles, June 1958. Her performance was based on a dream and she practiced for eight hours every day in order to perfect her dance. Photo by Carlo Polito”

Cynthia:  Who says that?

Marcy:  Everybody. Exactly in those words. Everywhere.

Cynthia:  Any video?

Marcy:  No.

Cynthia:  How do we know she’s really dancing?  Maybe she just posed? Maybe she broke the bottles. Or an ankle. Or –

Marcy:  YOU ARE MISSING MY POINT!

Cynthia:  Don’t yell. So what’s your point.

Marcy (yelling):  LOOK AT THAT PICTURE!
SHE’S CRAZY!
SHE DRESSED UP LIKE A CAT AND IS BALANCING ON POINTE SHOES ON WINE BOTTLES!
SHE’S CAT CRAZY INSANE! MORE INSANE THAN YOU! IT’S A MIRACLE!

Cynthia (excitedly):  That’s what you think. Look what I have.

Cynthia (gleefully):  Uh huh, that’s right. A picture of me dressed as a cat and wearing ballet slippers. Hmmm… they’re not pointe shoes, though.

Marcy:  Oh no…

Marcy desperately races off to hide the wine bottles.

LOVE! And I must know the backstory to that picture, when Marcy is not listening. I love that picture. I especially love that lady dreamed that and then did tat. Might be the raddest thingI have ever seen! Thank you for sharing that! It made my night!

Hi Jenni! Totally crazy, right? I searched for more details on that photo and couldn't find any. I would love to see a video but not much chance of that since it happened in 1958. xo,cynthia

Sorry, the first half of my paragraph was about your photo. I was not clear. : )

LOL! My amazing photographer friend, Justin Davanzo, was doing photos at my theatre company. He wanted fun and interesting portraits instead of actor headshots so… I decided on a whim to be a cat! It was a little nutty that's for sure! xo

    Not nutty at all, dear!
(Unless, I’m just nuttier than any of you, that is…)
Then again, I dress as a cat on almost a daily basis. So, maybe I am the crazy one.
(Check out my website, linked, if you want pictures, since I can’t seem to figure out how to post one here.)
