Cynthia:  So Rihanna is probably going to make it onto all of the Worst Dressed Lists for wearing this Giambattista Valli gown to the 2015 Grammys.

Marcy:  The internet is being very mean.

Cynthia:  I think it’s just…  soooooo beautiful.

Marcy:  It’s been called…

pregnant pepto bismol bottle dress
giant pink loofah dress
pink toilet paper cover doll dress (this one has examples all over Twitter)

…and much more.

Cynthia:  I don’t care. I think it is breathtakingly beauuuuuutiful.

Marcy:  You are in a minority of one.

Cynthia:  It inspires me to buy a bunch of electric pink tutus, a yard of flamingo pink satin, and a bedazzle gun. C’mon, Marcy! Let’s make our own pink Cinderella -At -The -Ball gown.

Marcy:  No.

Cynthia:  Am I really the only one who thinks Rihanna’s gigantic gown is gorgeous?!

I had not seen it before your post. Hmmm. I don't hate it. I like it more than I dislike it. I love the color. It is a lot. How ever did she sit down? Did she take up a whole row? The more I stare at it the more I like it. But for some inexplicable reason it is making me very hungry.

Probably because it looks like cotton candy! Now I have to look for photos of her sitting down in the audience. Too funny!

A would-be gorgeous dress gone awry by the taffeta-like ruffles along the bottom. The poof could have been gorgeous with a sheer fabric and no ruffles. Close, but no cigar, Riri!

I do love the top and the color looks great on her but I think it is just too much. Although it does say something that someone as beautiful and young as her, who usually dresses quite provocatively, is comfortable wearing something like this.

Oh I agree – the color is fantastic on her! Don't forget it is the Grammys where fashion does get a little crazy! Still no?

I also like the top and the color and to her credit, she is housing a homeless family in there.

I'm not a fan of big cake dresses in general, but this one makes quite of an impression. I guess it's appropriate when you want to make a statement ;))

Well, on the bright side, she can have that extra slice of pie, right? I mean, literally no-one would know!

Ahem, but it's paws down from me, I'm afraid… 😉

Ah well… anyway, she could eat the whole pie and no one would notice. Even five pies. Oh dear. Now I'm hungry and need to locate some pie.

I'm torn on this dress because there are so many things I like about it. I can definitely understand the criticisms, though, particularly the pink loofah reference. But I love the whimsy, the strawberry pink shade, and the drama of it all. Like Jenni, I like it more than I dislike it. I'm not a huge fan of such high empire waists that immediately poof out into a princess dress. Maybe if it had a longer bodice or more a-line shape? But still, it's certainly stunning and makes a statement! And it also reminds me of a birthday cake…maybe those Barbie birthday cakes where she stands in a dress of cake? This could also explain Jenni's hunger…
