Of Cardigans And Cat Ladies

Cynthia and Cat

Cynthia:  So my sister emailed me one of those Buzzfeed lists –   “Proof That Taylor Swift Is The Ultimate Cat Lady”.

Taylor Swift and Cat

Marcy:  Ah… too bad…she’s so young.

Cynthia:  Oh no! I think it’s great that she’s a self professed cat lady. She’s so young and so famous. It helps further our cause. And the reasons were great too. Except this one – “She wears cardigans.”

Marcy:  Yeah. So?

Cynthia:  Why on earth is wearing cardigans considered grounds for being a cat lady?

Marcy:  Because it’s true. Cat ladies wear cardigans.

Cynthia:  Lots of ladies wear cardigans! The First Lady wears cardigans. Cardigans are IN.

Marcy:  How many cardigans do you own?

Cynthia:  Why?

Marcy:  Just asking.

Cynthia:  Let me go count.

Cynthia counts her cardigans.

Cynthia:  Eighteen.

Marcy:  18 cardigans + 4 cats = CAT LADY.

Cynthia (pouting):  But not, the Ultimate Cat Lady.

Marcy:  Don’t worry. You’re getting there.

Cynthia:  I’ll need this!

You look gorgeous in that picture, Cynthia. So pretty. And the cat is cute too. Just don't tell her.

Wow! I have not counted my cardigans. Let me do a count in my head… I think I have thirteen. Is that cat lady status? Or is thirteen dog lady territory? Either way I love those sweaters. Taylor Swift always looks pretty.

Jenni – according to BuzzFeed you are a cat lady. So they are wrong and dog lovers also wear cardigans. I want to say Nyah Nyah Nyah whilst sticking our my tongue and waving my hands above my head at the Buzzfeeders!

I have 2 cats and I'm going to guess 20 cardigans. Don't tell my dog. Hmm.

Oh, Liana! Your dog is so sophisticated I am sure he won't mind! And see, it proves my point that people who also love dogs also wear cardigans! Woo hoo!

Love the pic of Cynthia and cat! And the red sweater. I have two cardigans and no cats so I think they might be on to something 🙂

i take it you have a dog and no cats? 😉

Thank you! He was the only cat who would pose with me! It's impossible to get cats to do what you want.

Cynthia, please don't buy those sweaters. They should be worn only by kindergarten teachers who need to entertain their students or the elderly.

So, which kitty is that? It's a pretty kitty…you two look really cute together! I didn't know that Swift was a cat person…and she's got an adorable scottish fold…how cute!!! 🙂 Speaking of scottish fold's did I ever send you this pic: If they ever open a bakery, I'm there!

BTW…I have an infinite number of cardigans…the number is so large that I can't count it…oops…guess that's not supporting your cause… 🙂

I can't decide if I want the cookie or the cat! Sooooo cute. Thank you for sending that over. I need to follow that page!

Oops – I just noticed that I forgot to answer about the kitty in the pic.
That's Scooter – our very first cat and the one who started the cat obsession. He showed up injured on my mom's patio when he was a kitten. There is a great debate about who fell in love with him first. I say Freddy and Freddy says me. He has adopted Freddy as his human and only tolerates me sometimes! 🙂

That is a great photo of you with the kitty. Your cardigan looks cute too.
I don't even want to count my cardigans. I guess I should call myself a cardigan collector which makes me a cat lady for sure. This poses a challenge when I open my cedar chest and the sharks, I mean cats, start circling because they are dying to jump inside and swim with the cardigans. Yikes!
    Have a great day,

I am hearing the Jaws theme song in my head right now. That would make a good video! Cats looooove cardigans and snagging holes in them and chewing them and using them as a bed.
Yay for cat ladies and cardigans!

Eighteen cardigans is a pretty impressive number! 😉 You need a T-shirt that says "CAT LADY AND PROUD!" – style it with a cardigan and knee-length pencil skirt. And maybe some pearls. That would rock so hard!

I actually really like Taylor Swift. She seems really true to herself – I read that interview with her in the March Glamour, and I love that she wears flats and cardigans. She is helping us make them cool again! 😉

Also, that red cat cardigan… you'd look cute in that. Just sayin'.

I love the way you think, Gwen! I do believe that they sell cat lady and proud tshirts. I like Taylor Swift too! She does seem true to herself and doesn't apologize for it either. I like that she isn't trying to be a sexpot to sell albums. I will have to check out that Glamour article.
