Cynthia: Here we go, Marcy. This is our first ever live blogging post. Can we handle it?
Marcy: I don’t know. How’s it going to work?
Cynthia: We’ll flip between E! and NBC and comment when we feel strongly about a look. Every 10 or 15 minutes or so. How does that sound?
Marcy: Fine by me. Let’s start with you.
Cynthia: Me?! What’s wrong with what I’m wearing?
Marcy: A Texas Tuxedo, Cindy? To live blog the Golden Globes?
Cynthia: But denim on denim is on trend.
Marcy: On a twenty-something or a Jcrew model maybe.
Cynthia: That’s not true! Every one who is any one wears denim on denim lately.
Marcy: Fine. I just expected you to not look like you belonged at a honky tonk hoedown as we critiqued Chanel and Dior.
Cynthia: Hey hey! One minute to until the Red Carpet starts! Here we go!!!
Cynthia: Ahhhh… it doesn’t fit!!!
Marcy: Guiliana loves it but I don’t believe her. I’m sure she wants to hike up the straps for her. Also, Rosamund needs to stand up straight.
Cynthia: Her hair and makeup are beautiful. Her dress is Vera Wang. You’re right, Marcy. She needs to stand up straight and how Vera let her on the red carpet with a too big dress is criminal. Ahhhh… too bad.
Marcy: Pretty but she looks like she stole Rene Zellweger’s Oscar look from 14 years ago.
Cynthia: I’ve noticed a lot of boring sheaths (Amy Adams, Gina Rodriguez) and actresses looking older than they are (Lorde, Kate Mara).
Marcy: Where’s the pretty?
Cynthia: Here’s the pretty, Marcy! Emily Blunt!
Cynthia: I’m usually not a fan of the Grecian look (also Amy Adams tonight) since I am not a fan of ruching (looks tacky and cougar-like to me) but this is so gorgeous and tasteful.
Marcy: This is what Rosamund Pike’s dress should have looked like.
Marcy: Emily Blunt is so pretty. Do you think she would let me be her kitty?
Cynthia: Stop the show. Just caught a glimpse of my most fave dress of the evening. Dakota Johnson!
Marcy: What is with you and liking dresses that look like disco balls?! Gosh. Talk about tacky.
Cynthia: Really? You don’t like it? I think it’s incredible.
Marcy: I hate disco.
Cynthia: I love how the dress is part disco, part art deco. Sexy but sweet and classy. I also love her romantic hair and makeup.
Marcy: Eh… next!
Cynthia: I can’t keep up! Too many dresses. Too many celebrities. I need a break.
Marcy: There’s no time for a break.
Cynthia: It’s going by so fast! I can’t form a thought quick enough.
Marcy: Get it together. We can’t stop now!
Cynthia: I just keep seeing white dresses with plunging necklines and actresses with either not enough lipstick on or dark red ’90’s lipstick.
Oh look! A commercial break. Stacy London is coming back to TLC with a new show. I wonder what happened to Clinton?
Marcy: Focus, Cindy, focus!
Cynthia: Now here’s a yellow dress that looks fresh and pretty and modern. Love!
Marcy: Simple done right. She looks like Snow White.
Lupita Nyong’o and Emma Stone
Cynthia: We have time for two more so let’s look at dresses that we do like! First up – Lupita Nyong’o.
Marcy: Lovely Lupita. I swear she can do no wrong on the red carpet. She always looks so gorgeous. I love how she always wears the prettiest colors.
Cynthia: I know! The purple on her fluffy flower dress and lips are so spring-like and so romantic.
Marcy: And here’s super groovy Emma Stone in a jumpsuit.
Cynthia: Another disco look! This is so awesome!
Marcy: She’s so cool.
So does this mean we aren’t going to be mean about all the gowns that looked like ill fitting bridesmaids dresses? Or all of those matronly dresses? Or all of the wedding dress gowns?
Cynthia: Nah. There were so many dresses that I did like, why focus on the negative?
Marcy: Hmpf. I’m going to call the Fashion Police and see if Kathy Griffin will hire me.
*Marcy and I would love to know which was your favorite look! There were so many we could only get to a handful of them onto the blog.
Our favorites are a toss up between Dakota Johnson and Emma Stone. I’m sure we’ll see even more gowns as the show airs.
Thanks for joining us! This was super fun!
