Christina In Red

Cynthia:  Gasp! Oh Marcy, come look at these rare color photos taken in 1913.

Marcy:  Are you on the Bored Panda website? Again?

Cynthia (sighing):  I am. I can’t help it. They so often have such neat articles.

Marcy comes trotting over to Cynthia who is mesmerized by photos on the computer.

Marcy:  We had another post planned, you know.

Cynthia:  I know but we’ll run it in a couple of days. I just have to post some of these photos. Besides, it is Throwback Thursday after all!

Marcy:  Already?  cough cough … Hmmm… cough cough… I’m not ready for it.

Cynthia (enchanted):  These photos are so extraordinary. Some look like they were taken today while others look like paintings from the 19th century.

Cynthia:  All of the photos were taken in 1913 using a process called autochrome – glass plates covered in potato starch. The artist was Mervyn O’Gorman and the subject is his daughter, Christina.

Cynthia:  There’s more of these captivating photos on the Bored Panda site here.

So what do you think, Marcy? Aren’t you just lulled into a tranquil state of mind? I can even hear the soothing sound of the waves as they lap up against the shore. So peaceful…

Marcy is panicked.

Marcy (yelling):  cough cough… I’m not ready for ThrowUp Thursday!  cough cough …

Cynthia observes Marcy recklessly racing around the house, her tranquility shattered.

Cynthia (thoughtfully):  Some days I wonder what it would be like to have a goldfish for a pet.

Marcy:  hack… hack… hack… nothing… hack… hack…
